How to apply for the service
Customer
- Existing customer : Apply for cash withdrawal service through branch or Citiphone (02) 2004-1004 (Card re-issuance may be required in some cases)
Limit
- Daily withdrawal limit : US $5,000
- Monthly withdrawal limit : US $20,000
- Regardless of the daily and monthly limit set by Citibank Korea, one-time cash withdrawal limit from the ATM is set by the ATM providers of each country based on their own situation and policy.

Checklist before departure
- Account balance : You must check the balance in payment account of your Citibank credit card.
- PIN : Your card will be blocked if you enter wrong PIN over 3 times
- You may need the card PIN of 4 digit which is different from the account PIN, so please check in advance.
How to use cash withdrawal service at overseas
- There are different ways of using ATM across countries and regions.
- You can use your credit card for cash withdrawal and Short Term Card Loan(Cash Advance). So you need to decided what service you are going to use, then press the right button.
If you want cash withdrawal service : Press either Savings, Checking or Cash Withdrawal menu
If you want credit card Short Term Card Loan(Cash Advance) : Press Credit menu
- ATM in Europe and other regions does not separate cash withdrawal from Short Term Card Loan(Cash Advance) function due to local system constraints. Citibank supports cash withdrawal only when a customer has deposit balance on the account for sake of his/her convenience. When there is no deposit balance, customer can get Short Term Card Loan(Cash Advance) only at ATM.
Enter Card PIN for overseas cash withdrawal service or Short Term Card Loan(Cash Advance). Some ATMs may ask you for 6 digit PIN, but just enter your 4 digit PIN and press the Enter Key. - Possible reasons for service errors
- Card block due to incorrect PIN entry or damaged card magnetic
Exceeding the daily/monthly limit or insufficient balance
Error in the local ATM, system or network
Error in Citibank Korea system
What to do
- Try another ATM nearby. It could be a temporary problem with the ATM.
- If your card has been blocked because of incorrect PIN entry, you need to visit the Citibank branch in Korea to reset the PIN. If you cannot visit the branch as you are staying abroad, you can call the Citiphone, and the CPO will guide you what to do.
- In case of Citibank Korea system error, contact the call center to check out the schedule for system breakdown.
- If you card magnetic is damaged, you need to get a re-issuance from the Citibank Korea branch.
Notes
- The total of your spending at overseas merchants and overseas cash withdrawn amount are summed up with overseas spending of other cards and reported to Credit Finance Association, and if the total overseas spending of all cards including card of other credit card issuer and bank exceeds a certain amount, it is reported to the National Tax Service and Korea Customs Service.
- Error may occur or the withdrawn amount may be different from the amount stated in the slip when withdrawing cash from overseas countries. You can call the Citibank Korea call center or visit the branch to request for withdrawal service error inspection. If you record the date and time of the transaction, card number, country, city, name of the bank, branch and total number of trial, and inform them to the call center staff or the branch staff, it could help expedite the problem solving. You must also keep the ATM receipt.
- Request for withdrawal service error must be made within 115 days from the date of card use, and the inspection and rectification can take longer time if the problem occurred in non-Citibank ATM. Please, see Citibank homepage or visit the bank for details.
- Citibank is not accountable for any incurred damages of the credit cards that have been lent to, held collateral by or handed over to a 3rd party.
- There are some ATMs without cash withdrawal or Short Term Card Loan(Cash Advance) functionality. This is due to the local ATM reasons, and in such case, the service is not available.
Assistance limit
- Citibank Korea cannot provide any assistance if the error is caused by the local ATM or local network or in case the magnetic is ruined. You can just use another ATM or use other payment method.
- Inquiries on card re-issuance or the account can be made to Citibank call center. Please, understand that such assistance cannot be provided by overseas Citibank staff.
Precautions for overseas financial crime
- If possible, it is encouraged to use ATMs installed in public places and used by many people or in financial institutions.
- It is safest not to use the ATM that is standing alone or installed in a secluded area. This is because there is a good chance that it may be a disguised ATM installed by a criminal group.
- Ensure that nobody sees your PIN when using the machine.
- Refuse to get help from anybody who approaches you when there seems to be problem with the machine.
