Things to check before departure
- Make sure you have sufficient balance in your deposit account linked to Citibank ICC.
- If you have multi-accounts at Citibank, your main bank account may not have sufficient balance so please make balance inquiry via ATM at a local bank.
- If you press incorrect password three times in a row your card will be blocked from use. Please make sure you know your four-digit password before you leave.
Using ICC overseas
- Usage of overseas ATM is different by country and by region, so we cannot give you a single guidance, but most of the ATMs have Checking Withdrawal menu on the screen which is withdrawal and Inquiry menu for making inquiries.
- ICC does not have credit card functionality. Do not select Credit service.
- For cash withdrawal with ICC, you must enter four-digit account password number. Do not enter six-digit PIN number.
Things to note
- Citibank ICC is a debit card. Pursuant to foreign exchange regulation, the individual credit card spending and debit card spending overseas are aggregated for reporting to the The Credit Finance Association (CREFIA), and if your overseas total bank and card spending meets the criteria below, it is reported to the National Tax Service and Korea’s Customs Service.

- National Tax Service and Customs Service Notification Criteria
- When you withdraw cash overseas, there could be mismatch between the withdrawal amount and the amount stated on the withdrawal slip. For investigation on withdrawal errors, please contact Citibank Korea Citiphone (822-3704-7000) or Citibank Korea branch with the following information for faster handling of the issue: transaction date, card number, country of withdrawal, city name, bank name, branch name, total number of attempts. Also, please keep the receipt printed from ATM.
- In case of withdrawal error, there is an automatic reimbursement within five business days, so please register your request for an investigation five business days after the occurrence of the error.
- Request for investigation for withdrawal error should be registered 175 days from the date of error in case of Citibank ATM, 115 days from the date of error in case of other bank ATM. Investigation period may be as long as 20 days for Citibank ATM and 55 days for other bank ATMs.
- ATM may be under construction depending on the Citibank Korea circumstances, and during that period ATM withdrawal from overseas may be restricted. If that happens, please wait for 20 minutes before trying again.
- The Bank is not liable for damages resulting from transfer or delegation of ICC to a third party, or damages resulting from providing ICC as collateral
Possible reasons for withdrawal errors and what needs to be done

- Try another ATM nearby. It could be temporary ATM failure.
- If card is blocked due to too many password attempts, you have to request for password reset by visiting a branch. If branch visit is not possible due to overseas stay, you may reset password through your representative.
(Required documents: Power of attorney confirmed by Consulate or notarized, a copy of real name certificate, original copy of real name certificate of proxy) - Check your balance by calling Korea Citiphone.

- If card magnetic is damaged, you have to get your card re-issued at home, but if travelling to Korea is not possible, you may re-issue through your representative.

- For withdrawal error in an overseas country, if the cause is due to local ATM or network company, or if the cause is magnetic stripe damage, Citibank Korea cannot help resolve the problem. Please use other ATM or payment method.
- Please contact us at Citibank Korea Citiphone (82-2-3704-7000) for inquires related to ICC such as card re-issuance, account, and others. Please understand that support from local Citibank staff is limited.
How to avoid becoming fraud victim in overseas country
- Please use ATMs located in public places or financial institutions visited by many people.
- Please avoid using ATM located in isolated place or in a corner which is not frequently visited by people. (Possibly fraud ATM set up by criminal gangs.)
- Please always take precaution when entering your password by covering up with your hand.
- Please say ‘No’ to people who approach you offering you help for ATM error.
