Citibank Global Transfers
Targets eligible for the service
- Customers who wish to make remittance which does not require documentation, overseas student/sojourner expense remittance, domestic income of foreigners/non-residents or overseas investment remittance to a Citibank account in countries where the service is available.
(However, Internet remittance can be made only for remittance which does not require documentation, overseas student/sojourner expense remittance and domestic income of foreigners/non-residents)
How to use the service
- You will need the following information when you visit a bank branch or access the Citibank Korea internet banking site to make a transfer
- Required Information needed for accurate remittance
- Citibank account number and recipients name, who will be receiving the transferred funds from overseas
- For US, name of the state or city may be necessary.
- Name of the receiving bank, name of the branch and SWIFT Code of the receiving bank are not necessary.

FX Rate
- The Global Transfer Service is offered via an international foreign exchange network. Therefore, the foreign exchange rate announced in Korea is not applied; instead the transaction is based on the Reuter Interbank Rate.
Please remember
- This service transfers funds to an overseas Citbank branch, so both the sender and recipient should have a Citibank account.
- Overseas remittances using SWIFT code are available to non-Citibank Global Transfer service banks.
- The transaction can only be made between normal sending and receiving accounts.
- Sending CGT through ATM
- To use the service, you must have a history of CGT transactions made at a branch or online.
- Not able to change the currency of previous CGT transaction.
- The amount can be entered in foreign currency.
- Not able to view CGT FX rates.
- Available methods when doing CGT via ATM : Passbook or card
(Not allowed to use credit card cash advance for remittance.) - One time transaction limit : Below USD 10,000 equivalent.
(When you send your first CGT via ATM, you can only send the amount below USD5,000)
- Transfer cannot be made if the receiving account is blocked or banned based on U.S. sanction regulation or guideline.
- Citi Global Transfer Service is provided through a partnership between Citibank and foreign settlement service providers. Details such as transfer limits. fees, FX rates, and country availability are subject to change without prior notice because of foreign alliances and government regulations in each country.
- Considering the nature of global transfer service, it may take over 60 days to cancel a transaction, and if the receiving country rejects the request for cancellation, the transferred money may not be returned.
- As international FX market rate is applied instead of Citibank's announced rate, the service may be suspended without prior notice if there is an extreme volatility in international FX rate.
- When the service is suspended, it will reopen after below time.

- Saturday : 02:40am, 12:40pm(daytime)
- Sunday : No updates
EX) When service is suspended on the business day 10:30 in the morning, the reopen schedule is on the same day 11:40 in the morning.
- Daylight Saving Time (DST) in most of the United States starts on the 2nd Sunday in March and ends on the 1st Sunday in November and these times would need to be adjusted by 1 hour on those dates
